On July 20th, International Netherlands Development Agency signed a memorandum of understanding with Kyembogo Farmers Association to provide capacity development to KYEFA members.

This agency will engage farmers in a process of developing a pineapple industry destined for local markets. The farmers will collaborate on collective decision making and along with the Netherlands group will address the barriers that so far have inhibited development.

The cultivation and marketing of pineapples has been identified as one of the key smallholder agricultural activities with the potential to significantly raise household levels. Besides the high value of pineapples as a commodity, the climactic conditions are generally suitable for their production. The agency and KYEFA agreed to collaborate as partners for a period of two years.
